New ways of thinking for the maritime industry
Marine Performer is a Maritime Leadership Academy established to improve people, operation and fiscal performance by developing and improving the leadership capability both on ship and on shore.
It is generally appreciated that good leaders deliver better results than poor ones. It is the leader who sets the standards, builds the culture and develops the teams. This is no different on a ship. A ship has some added challenges to that of the office, in the fact that onboard you do not leave the office until you sign off. You do not simply pop down to the nearest takeaway and order your preferred food and you are not able to chose who you hang out with. This is of course an added challenge but it is still the job of the leaders to make it work. And the responsibility lies not just with senior managers on board. It lies equally with senior managers on shore.
To work with these challenges leaders must not only accept them but also address them and work with them actively on a daily basis. It is not possible to delegate oneself out of this. Leaders need tools and these tools we teach in Marine Performer. Motivation, ownership and commitment does not come by telling people. They come through the way we work together, relate to each other and drive performance together. This is the focus of our training, and it works.
of all accidents are attributed to human error
the average training evaluation on the usefulness and success of training and the ability to apply it straight away
the average number of slides we have for a 3 day programme. Changing leadership behaviour does not require slides, it requires practise
Poor leadership in any business results in reduced efficiency, increased risk, high employee turnover and increased cost for the business.
Marine Performer takes a non-academic approach to Leadership. We believe that for Marine Leadership Training to work, the training must change behaviour on board and on shore.
Although a company not more than 4 years old we can already document real facts as a result of our training. Benefits can be traced to fewer accidents and incidents as well as a clear change in how both ship and shore collaborate and communicate.
